In Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, workers in workshops of several hair product companies are intensifying production of orders to countries such as Nigeria and South Africa. On the other side of the ocean, these versatile and cost-effective “Shaoyang made” wigs are highly sought after by a large number of African women. On June 29th, the 3rd China Africa Economic and Trade Expo will open in Changsha, and Shaoyang light industrial products represented by hair products will also participate. Shaoyang City, Hunan Province is an important production and export base for hair products in China. Currently, there are 115 registered hair product enterprises in Shaoyang City, Hunan Province, which can produce more than 3000 types of hair products with different shapes, materials, and processes. According to statistics from Shaoyang Customs, from January to May this year, the export value of hair products in the city was 1.88 billion yuan, of which 1.39 billion yuan was exported to Africa. According to the Shaoyang Hair Products Association, the market share of hair products made in Shaoyang exceeds 60% in Africa.
